The Taoiseach has said he has a duty to ensure Ireland gets a stable Government - and that includes talking to Fianna Fáil.
But Enda Kenny would not be drawn on whether he would form a Coalition with them, or depend on their support from outside.
The Taoiseach has said his proposal to return the Fine Gael and Labour Coalition has been clearly rejected.
And as a result he has said he now has a duty to speak to people who he had previously ruled out working with: “The people have given their verdict, the numbers in the Dáil in the way that they are now falling through make it difficult to put forward a proposition for Government.
“But that is what the people expect us to do now, and as the leader of the largest party and as a Taoiseach, it is my responsibility to work to see that process is put in place.”
“And that includes talking to the Fianna Fáil party.”
