Social Protection Minister Joan Burton has said that eligibility reviews for the Domiciliary Care Allowance (DCA) will remain closed for the time being.
Her comments come after a High Court judge overturned the refusal to grant the allowance to the mother of an autistic boy earlier this month.
He said the Department had shown a "disdainful attitude" to medical evidence presented during the application process.
However Minister Burton said the review process won't reopen until the judgment is fully considered.
She insisted that her Department has been working hard to make sure it's fair.
"The DCA eligibility review programme will not recommence until the implications of the judgement are clarified," she told the Dáil this morning.
"The eligibility review process has been comprehensively designed and a lot of work has been undertaken to prepare for eligibility reviews."
