Pharmaceutical company Eli-Lilly has said its operations in Dublin and Cork city will continue to operate as normal in the face of job cuts at the Kinsale plant in Co Cork.

Pharmaceutical company Eli-Lilly has said its operations in Dublin and Cork city will continue to operate as normal in the face of job cuts at the Kinsale plant in Co Cork.

The firm, which makes products for the treatment of depression, schizophrenia and diabetes, yesterday announced the axing of between 60 and 70 jobs at its plant in Dunderrow.

The Kinsale plant currently employs 460 people. The cuts will be achieved through voluntary redundancies.

It comes after two separate jobs announcements for the county; 70 new jobs will be created by international credit analysis company Rockboro Analytics and Easylink over the next five years.
