Electric cable plant sheds 47 posts after 80 years in Wexford
Forty-seven jobs are to go at Irish Driver-Harris in New Ross, Co Wexford.
Owners of the IDH plant - which manufactures electric cable for worldwide export - have decided to close the operations immediately and have nominated Grant Thornton as liquidators.
Staff were informed by management at a meeting this afternoon.
Large losses and aggressive price competition are being blamed for the company's closure after 80 years in business.
