An elderly woman has been killed in a road crash in Co Tipperary.

An elderly woman has been killed in a road crash in Co Tipperary.

The collision happened at Two Mile Borris at around 2pm this afternoon.

Gardaí say the woman's car hit a fence.

Her body has been removed to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick.

A second woman, who was a passenger in the car, also sustained injuries, which are not thought to be serious.

Motorists are being advised that part of the road is closed and diversions are in place.

Gardaí at Thurles are appealing for witnesses to the crash to come forward and contact Thurles Garda Station on 0504 25100, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
