An elderly woman has died in hospital after she was struck by a car in north Dublin yesterday.

An elderly woman has died in hospital after she was struck by a car in north Dublin yesterday.

The crash happened at the junction of Crawford Avenue on the Iona Road at around 6.30pm yesterday evening.

The 90 year old woman was seriously injured and taken by ambulance to the Mater hospital where she died in the early hours of this morning.

A 26 year old woman was driving the car at the time - she was uninjured.

The road was closed for a forensic examination but it reopened overnight. Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.
