An investigation is underway into a house fire in Co Galway, which claimed the life of an elderly man.

An investigation is underway into a house fire in Co Galway, which claimed the life of an elderly man.

It happened in Lower Camus, Rosmuc in Connemara just after 11.50pm last night.

Two units of Clifden fire brigade rushed to the scene and spent three hours bringing the blaze under control.

A 73-year-old man, who was in the house at the time, died in the fire.

He was pronounced dead at the scene which is preserved pending as technical examination.
