A man in his late 60s has died following a road crash in Ennis, Co. Clare.

A man in his late 60s has died following a road crash in Ennis, Co. Clare.

It happened when the car he was driving hit a parked vehicle in the Market area of the town shortly after 10pm last night.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick where a post mortem examination will be held later today.

Two others were in the car at the time, but were not injured.

The scene remains closed this morning to allow for a forensic examination.
