Eighth person treated after Clare chemical spill

An eighth person is being treated at Limerick Regional Hospital following a chemical spill in Co Clare yesterday.

This latest patient became ill overnight and presented themselves at the hospital this morning, after being involved in an incident at Chemicfloc in Co Clare.

The Health and Safety Authority has launched an investigation after a gas cloud formed when a chemical reaction was caused during the loading of a batch of bleach.

Seven workers were treated at Limerick Regional Hospital following the incident. Two of them are still ill.

The Clare Fire Service said the spill was contained quickly and posed no risk to surrounding homes or businesses.
