Eight out of 10 Irish towns pass European cleanliness average

More than 80% of Ireland's towns are as clean as the European average, according to the latest survey from the anti-litter league IBAL.

Twenty-two cities and towns from 42 surveyed by An Taisce were deemed ‘Cleaner than European Norms’, with a further 13 classed as ‘Clean to European Norms’.

Only seven are below the average.

Among them is Dublin's North Inner city which has again been labelled a litter blackspot.

Ireland’s cleanest town will be announced at a ceremony later in Dublin.
