EBS staff vote to end industrial action over 13th month payment

Unite has voted to end its industrial action at EBS.
The trade union has been engaged in low-level action since late last year over the withdrawal of a 13th month payment - described by the Building Society as a 'bonus'.
A ballot of more than 300 members voted by a margin of 94% to accept the agreement brokered between Unite and EBS at the Labour Relations Commission last week.
The agreement sees half of the disputed payment being paid directly to the staff involved, a payment of €4.8m by the company into the staff pension fund.
It also sees undertakings that normal industrial relations procedures would be followed by Unite workers during the period of integration of EBS staff into the larger Allied Irish Bank.
