Early referendum tally favours Yes side

The referendum to enshrine children’s rights in the constitution looks set to pass, early results have indicated.

The first wave of tallies suggested the ’Yes’ camp led by around 60%, but the split across the country was mixed.

Dublin, Wicklow, Wexford and Carlow-Kilkenny were among the constituencies voting 'Yes'.

But latest tallies indicated Donegal South West, Louth and East Meath were among the 'No' camp.

The first official result confirmed Donegal South West voted against the children's rights referendum - 56% to 44%.

The final voter turnout in the constituency was just less than 24%.
