"There’s a magical and unique atmosphere in the city at Christmas that’s hard to beat.
"Whether it’s meeting up with old friends or doing a spot of shopping Dublin City Council and Dublin Town get it right every year with a fantastic range of festive events to make every visit to Dublin City a captivating experience for all.
"There will be lots of on-street entertainment in O’Connell Street for the switch on of the Christmas Tree Lights including a vintage carousel and strolling Christmas characters.”
DublinTown CEO, Richard Guiney said: “Dublin is the place to be at Christmas time, there is no place like it for atmosphere and choice; the lighting up of the Christmas tree on O’Connell has always been a major event for Dubliners young and old.
“The atmosphere has been building steadily this year with even greater crowds enjoying their city with its lights, limitless shopping, cafés, restaurants and bars.
“I am particularly looking forward to the city’s traditional Christmas jumper world record attempt, Geansai Nollag, Dublin is certainly the Christmas Jumper and Christmas fun capital of the world”.
The on-street collection this year will be for DEBRA Ireland, a national Irish charity providing support services to patients and families living with the debilitating skin condition epidermolysis bullosa (EB).
