Duo in court challenge to €3.1bn Anglo payment

Two men from a group called 'People for Economic Justice', will represent themselves in opposition to the bad debts of Anglo Irish Bank at the High Court today.

Ben Gilroy and John Squires are looking to secure a temporary injunction against the Taoiseach to stop the State paying out €3.1bn at the end of this week

They will argue that it is an odious debt that was not taken on for the benefit of the people.

Afterwards at 2pm, they say a group will march from the four courts to the Dáil to serve a legal summons for the next stage of their action.
