Dublin teen appears in court over Leinster house sword

A Dublin teenager allegedly caught red-handed with a sword in the front yard of Leinster House is to get bail.

The District Court heard evidence 19-year-old Jordan Buckley from Kells Road, Crumlin did not have any one particular person in mind as a target.

He is accused of being armed with a sword in the front yard of Leinster House yesterday afternoon.

Gda Dwayne Conlon gave evidence that the teenager made no reply after arrest, charge and caution.

Garda Conlon objected to bail on a number of grounds including the seriousness of the charge which carries a maximum sentence of 5 years, the nature of the evidence, which includes a number of eyewitnsses and CCTV footage and finally because it's alleged Jordan Buckley was caught red handed.

However Judge Michael Walsh was minded to grant bail to the 19 year old once he lodges 250 euro with the court..he's to appear again on this day week.

The unemployed teen has been ordered to sign on three times a week and to stay away from Dublin 2 and any government buildings and departments except the dole office.
