Dublin Spire goes green for St Patrick's Festival

The iconic Spire of Dublin has gone green as part of this year's St Patrick's Festival celebrations.

Four days of events get underway today and the Spire will be green in collaboration with the UNESCO International Year of Light Ireland 2015.

The Spire will also stream a twitter feed displaying tweets with the dedicated hashtag #LightIRL.

Edel Moss, marketing and development director of the festival, said that lighting such a huge monument is no mean feat.

"I suppose being 398ft monument to light is a very dificult task, so it's all the new, latest technology being used on it," she said.
