Dublin named UNESCO City of Literature

Dublin has been designated a UNESCO City of Literature.

Dublin has been designated a UNESCO City of Literature.

The announcement has been made at the Grand Canal Theatre, making Dublin one of only four literary cities in the world.

Dublin's Lord Mayor Councillor Gerry Breen said: "Sometimes we don’t know what we have until other people tell us...This is a fantastic opportunity for Dublin."

The other three literary cities are Melbourne, Edinburgh and Iowa.
