Dublin Mayors to ask Minister for referendum date

Lord Mayor of Dublin, Christy Burke

Two Dublin Mayors have confirmed that they will ask the Environment Minister to set a date for a referendum on a directly-elected mayor.

Phil Hogan is due to meet with the heads of the local authorities later this month to discuss plans for the position.

Lord Mayor of Dublin, Christy Burke and South Dublin's Fintan Warfield are behind the vote.
