The organisers of a protest in Dublin today in support of the Iranian people say they are concerned at the worsening political situation there.

They say that thousands of workers, women’s rights activists and students have been arrested in Iran following the demonstrations in support of a re-run of the presidential election.

The lobby group Hands Off the People of Iran is organising the protest at the Central Bank Plaza in Dublin.

The chair of the group Anne McShane said such protests will have more impact than outside political interference.
