Dublin man jailed for shooting lifelong friend after drugs row

A Dublin man has been jailed for 12 years for killing his friend, who was shot in the back.

Aidan Finnegan pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of 24-year-old Dara McCormack in Whitestown, Blanchardstown, on February 11, 2006.

The Central Criminal Court heard the victim's father held his dying son in his arms.

Passing sentence, Mr Justice Paul Carney said Aidan Finnegan had killed his "lifelong friend over a squalid drugs debt".
