Dublin gardaí investigate armed bank robbery


Gardaí at Blackrock, Co Dublin are investigating an armed robbery at a bank on Blackrock Main Street.

At approximately 3.50pm this afternoon, a lone male entered the bank and threatened staff and customers.

He was armed with what is described as a handgun.

The raider took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene. No shots were fired and no injuries sustained.

In a follow up search shortly after the robbery, investigating Gardaí stopped a Taxi on the Merrion Road and arrested a 51-year-old man (passenger in taxi) in connection with this investigation.

He is currently detained at Blackrock Garda Station under Section 30 Offences against the State act 1939.

Investigations are continuing.
