The main runway at Dublin Airport is to be closed for four consecutive nights from tonight.

The DAA said that it is for essential electrical work, and is also weather dependent.

The cross-wind runway will be in operation instead during this time, between 11pm and 5am.

The airport is warning it may result in increased aircraft noise levels for some residents in Santry, Beaumont, Artane, Clontarf and surrounding areas of North Dublin.

The airport says it regrets any inconvenience caused.
