Dublin airport operates at reduced capacity for weekend

12/07/2008 - 08:26:24
Dublin airport will continue to operate at a reduced capacity this weekend, but it's hoped delays won't be as severe as they were in recent days.

Air traffic control's radar system was shut down completely for a time on Wednesday but capacity has been slowly increasing since then after engineers identified the cause of the problem.

The airport will operate at 80% capacity until the completion of an investigation, which may stretch into early next week.

Irish Aviation Authority spokesperson Lillian Cassan said there should be reduced traffic passing through the airport over the weekend.

“On Saturday there are forty fewer aircrafts due to go in and out of Dublin airport, so that will obviously ease some of the pressure and I’m hoping that the delays will be more tolerable,” she said.
