Some areas are also set for good sunny spells, particularly on Sunday, although the odd light shower cannot be ruled out.

According to Joan Blackburn of Met Éireann, Good Friday will see the last of the reasonably bad days, weather-wise, for a while.

"There is an improvement as we go through the weekend, but still a lot of cloud about for tomorrow, I think," she said.

"The high pressure is certainly moving in and that's gong to give us the generally dry conditions right over the weekend and early next week."
