An uncle of murdered Drogheda woman Jill Meagher has said that no words can describe the consequences of her death.
Michael McKeon said today that the details of what happened to Jill are "very distressing" and the family need privacy and space, as they await the sentencing of Adrian Ernest Bayley.
Bayley appeared in court this morning where a number of victim impact statements were read out, relating to the murder of the Louth native in Melbourne last year.
Earlier, the Mayor of Drogheda, Paul Bell, issued a statement on behalf of the people of the town.
In a strongly-worded message, Mr Bell spoke of the "shock and disgust" that the people of Drogheda felt about such a crime.
He has also called for justice for Jill, saying that her family deserved closure, and that a person like Adrian Bayley had no place in a civilised society.
