A man in his 20s is being questioned by Gardaí over yesterday's attack and searches have been carried out.

Minister Donohoe has said detectives have the Government's support.

“We will insure that all the resources that are needed for An Garda Síochána to deal with this vicious cycle of murders are made available,” said Donohoe.

“We have done that to date, over 1,000 armed checkpoints have now been implemented since February.

“We’ve €5m made available to set up an Armed Support Unit and we will continue that investment to deal with this level of terror.”
