Donegal group begins anti-austerity trek

An anti-austerity walk from Malin Head to Dublin gets underway today.

The trek, expected to take three weeks, is being undertaken by Donegal Action Against Austerity.

One of those taking part is unemployed builder Joe Murphy who said that what they are undertaking will make a difference.

Mr Murphy said: "The ordinary people out there, we are hoping that they will join us even for a couple of miles, and it's their way of telling this Government that they are fed up with austerity and the cuts and local schools being closed; and the list goes on and on.

"It is just too much to mention."
