Singer Dolores O'Riordan has been taken to the Mid-West Regional Hospital in Limerick after being medically assessed by a doctor at Shannon Garda Station.
The singer was arrested at Shannon Airport after allegations that a flight attendant was assaulted on an Aer Lingus flight from JFK Airport in New York to Shannon.
Gardaí were called to Shannon Airport just before 6am today.
Ms O'Riordan is reported to have been disruptive during the flight and refused requests to sit down.
Gardaí and airport security were awaiting the flight when it landed and Ms O'Riordan is alleged to have headbutted a Garda and spat in his face as she was arrested.
She was being questioned at Shannon garda station.
