Fourth-generation politician and sitting councillor Anne McEllistrim has lost her bid for a seat in the Killarney electoral area.
The Fianna Fáil candidate stepped out of her own area in Tralee to allow her brother Thomas to run there.
Ms McEllistrim, a councillor since 2004, has just been eliminated on the eighth count in Killarney and her total vote of 805 is now being distributed.
