'Devastated' family of Michaela to make long journey home





Members of the McAreavey family are expected to return home this weekend from Mauritius.

The families of John and Michaela McAreavey yesterday issued a statement appealing for privacy after two men were acquitted of Michaela's murder.

They had denied the charges throughout an 8-week trial.

A forensic scientist had told the court there was no DNA evidence from either Avinash Treebhoowoon or Sandip Moneea in the hotel bedroom where the 27-year-old died.

Meanwhile lawyers for the two men acquitted of the murder say they will release evidence tomorrow that could be used to launch a new investigation.
