The Defence Forces were called in to assist Gardaí in policing at Shannon Airport more than 300 times last year.

The Defence Forces were called in to assist Gardaí in policing at Shannon Airport more than 300 times last year.

Defence Minister Alan Shatter has revealed that Gardaí asked for help from the Defence Forces on 324 occasions during 2013.

He has also insisted that the justice system cannot go easy on elderly anti-war campaigners at Shannon.

Minister Shatter also told Mick Wallace that the release of anti-war campaigner Margaretta Darcy is entirely up to herself.
