A Garda investigation is underway following the death of a man at a house in Terenure in Dublin this evening.

A Garda investigation is underway following the death of a man at a house in Terenure in Dublin this evening.

At around 5.45pm, emergency services were called to a flat in the Ashdale Gardens area of Terenure.

A man in his 60s was taken from the scene by ambulance to St. James' Hospital with serious head injuries. He was later pronounced dead.

A man in his 30s was arrested at the scene and is currently being held at Terenure garda station.

The scene is preserved pending a forensic exam and the state pathologist has been notified.
