De Rossa calls on Cullen to adopt EU drink-driving proposal

Labour MEP Pronsias De Rossa has called upon Minister for Transport Martin Cullen not to weaken a statement on road safety to be adopted by his counterparts across Europe when they meet in Brussels on Thursday.

Labour MEP Pronsias De Rossa has called upon Minister for Transport Martin Cullen to fully adopt a statement on road safety by his counterparts across Europe when they meet in Brussels on Thursday.

The current Austrian presidency of the EU wants all states to have a common maximum blood alcohol limit of 50ml per 100ml of blood.

But Ireland, the UK and Luxembourg currently have limits of 80ml per 100ml of blood.
