It has been claimed that the personal details of nearly 4,000 people were obtained during an overnight attack on the Fine Gael website.
The party says it was hacked by a group called 'Anonymous' which has been a supporter of Wikileaks.
Evening Herald Journalist Kevin Doyle today said he was sent a copy of the site database of 3,800 people who used it to leave comments, including their names, email addresses, phone numbers, location and IP addresses.
It is understood Fine Gael has made contact with the Data Protection Commissioner and the Garda Computer Crime Unit following the security breach.
