A cyclist has been killed after he was in collision with a car in Co Kerry earlier today.

A cyclist has been killed after he was in collision with a car in Co Kerry earlier today.

Gardaí in Killarney are investigating the fatal accident on the N22 at Scart, Farranfore at about 11.15am today.

A male cyclist in his 30s was fatally injured. He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body removed to Kerry General Hospital. The driver and passenger of the car were not injured.

The road was closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators but has since reopened.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to contact Killarney garda station on 064-6671160, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
