A male cyclist is fighting for his life after colliding with a van in north county Dublin.

A male cyclist is fighting for his life after colliding with a van in north county Dublin.

Another man in his mid 30s was also injured. It is believed his injuries are not life-threatening.

The collision happened at about 12.30pm near Turvey Avenue and the old N1 Road between Lusk and Donabate. The cyclist, who is in his 40s, was rushed to Beaumount Hospital.

Another male cyclist in his mid 30s also sustained minor injuries in the collision with the van.

Gardaí are at the scene and the road remains closed in both directions.

A forensic examination is due to be carried out at the scene.
