7% of prisoners out for Christmas
21/12/2006 - 18:45:14The Government is allowing 230 prisoners out for Christmas.
The figure is around 7% of the prison population, significantly fewer than last year.
Less serious offenders who have completed most of their sentence, with a minor criminal history and good behaviour will get temporary release from a few hours to eight days.
