Taoiseach condemns Israeli attack on Qana

The Taoiseach Bertie Ahern has condemned this morning's attack by Israeli forces on the Lebanese town of Qana, in which up to 50 people were killed.

At least 20 of those killed are believed to have been children.

Mr Ahern said he was shocked and appalled at the heavy loss of life and that an immediate ceasefire is urgently needed.

The Taoiseach indicated that Minister for Foreign Dermot Ahern would be making Ireland's view very clear at an emergency meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels on Tuesday.
