Corruption trial begins for Sharon's son15/11/2005 - 09:12:00
A trial opened today against Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s oldest son, who is accused of corruption when he oversaw his father’s campaign fund-raising activities.
Omri Sharon entered the Jerusalem court surrounded by media, but declined to comment.
Sharon has agreed to admit to charges of falsifying corporate documents, perjury and to violating the party funding law, the Haaretz website reported late yesterday.
In return, the prosecution would drop counts of fraud and breach of trust. Israel Radio reported Omri Sharon would still have to serve a prison sentence.
