Indonesian plane crash boy found alive
06/09/2005 - 15:54:22A five-year-old boy who was separated from his father when an Indonesian passenger jet crashed and burst into flames has been found alive at a hospital in the city of Medan, officials said today.
Pento Panjaitan and his father were on the Mandala Airlines plane that slammed into a busy street seconds after take-off yesterday, ploughing into cars and houses as it skidded more than 200 yards.
Both were injured but taken to different hospitals.
Pento’s parents thought he was dead, but doctors identified the boy as a passenger on the plane and notified his mother, said Rini, a nurse at the Santa Elizabeth Hospital, who goes by only one name.
Another hospital official confirmed her account.
