Three climbers fall to deaths in French Alps

Three French mountain climbers fell 1,300 feet to their deaths while hiking in the Alps at the weekend.

The climbers, two men and a woman in their 50s, fell yesterday as they came down from a peak in the Mont Blanc range. Another group of hikers witnessed the fall and alerted the police.

The names of the victims, all members of an Alpine hiking club based in the French city of Le Mans, were not immediately released.
