27 jobs cut at Clare factory despite expansion plans
05/12/2006 - 15:22:5327 jobs are to go at a Co Clare Plastics Factory despite the company’s plans for expansion, it emerged this afternoon.
Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics Ireland announced a €3m investment in manufacturing at its Kilrush plant this afternoon, securing the future of 72 jobs.
However, the company confirmed that in order to do this, 27 employees will lose their jobs over the next year.
The plastics firm laid-off 14 staff last year and hopes to achieve the latest job cuts through voluntary redundancy.
