Gardaí receive 7,000 applications
21/10/2005 - 08:11:29The Gardaí have received as many as 7,000 applications as part of a recruitment drive for people from ethnic minorities.
The deadline for applications to join the force expired yesterday.
It will take a number of days to determine how many non-nationals were among the applicants.
The Gardaí hope to take on 1,100 new recruits each year between now and 2007.
