Greens hit out at Bush climate change decision
04/07/2005 - 08:26:07The Green Party has attacked US President George W Bush for his continued refusal to sign up to the Kyoto Protocol on tackling climate change.
Speaking ahead of this week's G8 meeting in Edinburgh, when the issue is due to be discussed, Mr Bush has already ruled out any US backing for a Kyoto-style agreement.
Green Party TD John Gormley said the comments were disappointing and other world leaders should put pressure on Mr Bush to change his stance.
"We have to continue to apply pressure on the United States, on the Bush administration, who seem to be more interested in protecting the interests of big oil and big coal," he said.
