Planning permissions to build new homes have risen by more than 52% in a year.

CSO numbers show rise in planning permissions

Planning permissions to build new homes have risen by more than 52% in a year.

New figures from the CSO show that permission was granted for 2,144 new homes during the third quarter of this year, up from 1,400 during the same time in 2013.

The biggest rise was for apartments, with planning permission given for 361 new units, up 130% on last year.
