CSO figures show slight rise in May property prices

New figures from the Central Statistics Office out today show that residential property prices went up slightly in the month of May by 0.2%, the first time prices have gone up on a national level since September 2007.
However, their figures show that residential property prices fell by 15.3% in the year to May.
The 15.3% drop compares to a decline of 12.2%, recorded in the twelve months to May 2011.
In Dublin, residential property prices rose by 0.2% in May but were 17.5% lower than a year ago.
Elsewhere around the country, the price of residential properties rose by 0.1% in May compared with a decline of 2.1% in May last year.
Prices were 14.2% lower than in May 2011.
Overall, house prices in Dublin are 55% lower than at their highest level in early 2007.
