CSO figures show dramatic fall in wages

There's been a dramatic fall in the average wage for Irish workers in just three months.

New figures published by the Central Statistics Office show wages fell by 1.9% in the three months between July and September.

The average weekly wage is now €671.70, or the equivalent of just under €35,000 a year, down from €684.97 a week in the period from April to June.

Meanwhile, the average worker's hours also extended - staff now work 12 minutes more every week, compared to a year ago, for 1.4% less pay.
