The annual rate of inflation hit 1.2% last month, according to the Central Statistics Office.

The CSO said that is down from 1.6% in September.

The cost of education went up 6.7% in the 12-month period, while transport went up 5.8%.

Consumer prices fell by 0.1% in the month of October - with the main factor being a drop of 2.7% in transport - mostly down to a decrease in airfares, as well as lower petrol and diesel prices.
