CSO: 10% increase in burglaries

Kidnappings, burglaries and fraud offences have all increased according to new figures from the CSO. However, all other crimes have fallen.
The Central Statistics Office measured the 12-month period to the end of the second quarter of the year in their review.
It showed burglaries have increased by 10%, fraud by 8% and kidnappings grew by just under 8%.
Yet there were notable decreases in the number of murders, assaults, harassments. Weapons offences were down by 15% while public order offences fell by 13%.
In a statement released this lunchtime, Justice Minister Alan Shatter welcomed the decrease in 11 of the 14 crime groups measured.
He did however express concern about the rise in property-related offences like burglary.
Still, the minister says while there's an increase to be seen in 12 month figures for that area, burglaries actually fell in the most recent quarter, by nearly 25%.
