Crowley leads tallies in South

Early tallies have seen Fianna Fáil's Brian Crowley topping the polls in the Ireland South Constituency for the European elections on 27%.

Sinn Féin's Liadh Ni Riada is in second place on 19.4% while Sean Kelly of Fine Gael has 12.5% so far.

There are almost 700,000 ballot papers to be counted for the constituency at Nemo Rangers GAA club in Cork. Only 12,000 have so far been tallied.

First count details are not expected until 9pm this evening due to the sheer volume of papers.
